The WormBag is a wormery for households of 1 to 6 people, with the worms able to eat up to 2 kg of organic waste per day. It works as a continuous-flow system: there are no trays or levels to swap over every month. The vermicompost (a natural fertiliser for your plants) is harvested from the bottom.

Made from Oxford 900D fabric with a water-resistant, breathable lining. This fabric keeps conditions aerobic throughout the whole vermicomposting process.

WormBag wormery for turning your organic waste into compost with compost worms

Marine-grade zips are fitted on the top and bottom of the WormBag to make feeding and harvesting easier.

Its iron frame is lightweight and sturdy, and the seams are extremely strong, even when fully loaded (+60 kg)!

It has an internal drawstring that provides an extra layer of protection.
Built to last, it features: a tall frame, sturdy corner connectors, improved covers and double zips.

Your questions about the WORMbag

The farm's answers to the questions our customers ask us most often.

The WORMbag is suitable for a household of 1 to 6 people. It is a continuous-flow wormery: there are no trays to swap around, you simply feed from the top and harvest from the bottom. Once the worm population is well established, the WORMbag can take large quantities of waste: up to 1 kg per day. At first, you'll add much smaller amounts, giving the worms time to multiply.

All our advice: How to use a continuous-flow wormery

Place the WORMbag somewhere sheltered from rain, sun and extreme heat or frost, on a flat, even surface. Your home, a garage, an office, a classroom and above all a cellar or basement, where temperature and humidity remain stable, all suit it well. Choose its location before filling it: once active and full, the WORMbag wormery is heavy and must be moved carefully, by at least two people, so as not to distort its structure.

All our advice: Where to put your wormery: kitchen, cellar, garage, utility room...

Sturdy and with a 2-year guarantee, the WORMbag can be complemented with a few accessories. Our Eisenia compost worms are sold separately: the instructions recommend starting with 250 to 500 g. For the starter bedding, our additive-free 9 L coconut fibre block or our natural fibre substrate, designed for getting started, can be mixed with cardboard. An XXL hemp mat, which you cut to the shape of the bag, keeps moisture in at the top of the WORMbag, and our mini mixing rake aerates the surface without getting your hands dirty. For when you are away, consider WormFood.

Fill around 1/5 of the WORMbag with moist bedding, for example rehydrated coconut fibre mixed with cardboard or paper, to a depth of 20 to 25 cm. Check that the drawstring at the bottom is pulled tight, close the bag and wait 12 hours before adding the worms. The instructions recommend starting with 250 to 500 g of compost worms, sold separately; you can go up to 2 kg to compost faster, but a small population is safer to begin with. Garden earthworms are not suitable for the WORMbag wormery: you need compost worms.

All our advice: How to start your wormery, step by step

With the WORMbag, start small: wait 3 days after adding the worms, then add thin layers of waste. With 250 g of worms, no more than around 400 g of waste every 3 days; with 500 g, around 800 g. Watch how quickly it disappears before increasing: the population grows over months 2 to 4, and feeding can then become more frequent. Cut the waste into pieces and cover it with cardboard or paper. If the temperature rises inside the WORMbag, it is often due to too much food: pause feeding for a while.

The first harvest from the WORMbag comes after around 6 months, from the bottom of the bag. Undo the clips and Velcro flaps on the lower part, place a shallow container under the WORMbag, then gradually loosen the drawstring: the vermicompost falls out and is easy to collect, with a little scraping if needed. Stop as soon as you reach a layer containing worms, then pull the drawstring tight again. If the harvest contains a lot of worms, the compost is not ready yet: put it back on top and wait at least a month.
