Double chambers: continuous composting

When the first is full, start filling the second. While one is maturing, the other is being filled. Once the second is full, the first is ready to empty.

What waste?
Sort your garden and organic waste into two main categories: "greens" and "browns", also known as "soft" and "hard" waste.
1/3 green or soft waste
Add one-third green waste, which is fresh organic material rich in nitrogen and carbon: grass clippings, weeds, fruit and vegetable peelings, wilted flowers, eggshells, and leftovers from plant-based meals. Do not add meat, fish, seafood, or ash.
2/3 brown or hard waste
Add two-thirds brown waste—the dry organic matter that provides mainly carbon with a little nitrogen, needed by microorganisms. That includes coffee grounds, dead branches, wood shavings/chips, dried plants, dead leaves, and cardboard chopped into small pieces.
