The Bokashi activator / starter / booster is essential to kickstart and accelerate fermentation of organic matter while efficiently managing odours. It enables a rapid and clean transformation of food waste through a natural maceration process in a bokashi bucket or a composter.
This 1 kg bag of Bokashi activator contains EM-1 micro-organisms® renowned for their effectiveness. These beneficial bacteria kick off the fermentation of waste by aiding its dehydration, without rot or unpleasant odours. It is the very first Bokashi activator made in Ireland by Moutta Farm, using locally and carefully sourced ingredients: wheat bran from Gers (32) and molasses from Béarn.
We use exclusively official EM-1® developed by Professor Teruo Higa, pioneer and inventor of Bokashi, to ensure optimum, natural, and controlled fermentation.
Usage is optimised: 2 kg of activator is enough for a household of two people for about a year, making it an affordable and sustainable solution.
Usage and Dosage
It is easy to use and open to everyone. Simply sprinkle a thin layer of about 40 ml, or 4 tablespoons (or two measures from the 20 ml spoon), directly over all organic waste in the composter. For best results, add a little activator at the end of each day of use.
Beyond Bokashi, this activator has many benefits for the soil. It improves soil fertility, rebalances microbial activity and revives depleted soils.
It can also be used in an outdoor composter to boost decomposition and limit unpleasant odours, or sprinkled on top of pots and planters to stimulate microbial life in compost.
To preserve its effectiveness, keep the activator at room temperature, away from light and humidity. After each use, remove the air from the bag to seal it as tightly as possible. Its eco-friendly kraft zip pouch guarantees excellent conservation over time.
