EM® Bokashi Balls are clay balls enriched with effective microorganisms (EM®), designed to restore the biological balance in ponds and reduce silt. Thanks to the progressive microbial action, these balls help to clean ponds, tanks, and garden water bodies while improving water quality and limiting the growth of algae and unwanted aquatic plants.
Each ball is made from a mixture of fermented clay, EM® Bokashi, molasses, and EM® ceramic powder.
This natural combination promotes a healthy and sustainable aquatic environment, with no risk for wildlife, plants, or pets. You can continue watering your vegetable patch or let your animals drink the treated water safely.
We do not recommend using the balls in clean water collectors, as the ball will disintegrate to take effect. In that case, it is better to use Maxi Tubes or Ceramic Rings.

Usage & Dosage
For a pond or tank, it is recommended to apply:
- 1 ball per 1 to 2 m² of bottom surface per year;
- Depending on the silt already present, you may use 1 to 2 balls per m²;
- Ideally, treatment is done in winter;
- Can be combined with Microferm and EM® Photo+ for complete treatment of green ponds.
Only one annual application is needed for visible and long-lasting results, while maintaining an optimal biological balance in your pond.
The action of EM® Bokashi Balls is progressive: the effective microorganisms ferment and decompose accumulated organic matter, neutralise nitrate and ammonia residues, and restore oxygen levels for a stable and balanced water environment.
You may observe gas release in the weeks following the addition of the balls: floating algae and organic matter can be removed and used as fertiliser or compost.
