The Bokashi Organko Essential allows you to compost your organic waste. Thanks to its design and functionality, it will fit perfectly in your kitchen.
This composter is made from recycled plastic packaging.
This kit of 2 buckets comes with all the essentials you'll need to get your Bokashi composter started.
Bokashi is not a traditional compost but rather a fermentation process for disposing of our food waste. It uses EM bacteria (activator), added to the Bokashi to speed up the fermentation of the organic waste.
The term “bokashi” is a Japanese word meaning “fermented organic matter”. It is indeed fermented through EM (friendly bacteria). These bacteria speed up the fermentation of organic matter in the composter.
The Bokashi has positive effects on soil: it enriches your land, nourishes your garden and helps the planet by reducing everyday waste. Composting with Bokashi is very simple. Its sleek design, discreet look, and compact format make it ideal as a kitchen composter.

Bokashi EM-1 Activator with high fermentation ability, is made by Moutta Farm!
Our ingredients are carefully sourced and we use the official EM-1 strains from Professor Teruo Higa, the renowned inventor of bokashi, for superior quality.
We use raw materials local to our area: wheat bran from Gers (32) and molasses from Béarn (64).
WHY TWO BOKASHI?
The advantage of the 2-bucket kit:
While fermentation takes place in the first composter (for 15 days), the second is available for new waste (next 15 days).
We recommend using two Bokashi bins. Once the first is full, it should remain sealed and resting for 2 weeks to ferment the food waste. Meanwhile, you can start filling the second bucket!
Benefits
This indoor composter has many strengths:
- It includes a tap so you can enjoy compost tea without handling the waste.
- Large waste processing capacity: capacity (2 x 15.3 litres)
- Its practical base holds the bucket and integrates a drawer for easy collection of compost tea.
- A wide compactor lets you compress the waste efficiently, keeping your hands clean.
- It consists of two bins: collect organic waste in one and finish fermentation in the other.
- The ergonomic and ultra-strong handle makes it easy to carry and move.
How it works and instructions:
- Place your cooked or uncooked food scraps in the composter.
- Sprinkle with two tablespoons of Bokashi activator.
- Compress the waste using the supplied compactor to remove air.
- Always keep the lid tightly closed; the less air, the better.
- Empty excess liquid using the tap at the base of the composter.
When the bucket is full, empty the contents into a small hole or trench in your garden (green waste bin, worm composter, or even at a recycling centre).
The waste will be fermented but not yet broken down at this stage. It should go into the soil to physically decompose into humus (soil). Alternatively, the organic material can be added to your garden composter. For best results, keep it covered with soil and other compostable materials.
