This kit includes all the key elements you’ll need to get started with your Bokashi Confort 14-litre composter.
Unlike traditional composting, Bokashi relies on a fermentation process (not decomposition). By adding a Bokashi activator based on effective microorganisms (EM), food waste ferments rapidly, without odours or pests.
The word “bokashi” is a Japanese term meaning “fermented organic matter”. It’s fermented by EM (friendly bacteria), which speed up the fermentation process of organic material inside the composter.
Bokashi has a positive effect on soil: it enriches the earth, nourishes the garden and is good for our planet by reducing everyday waste. Making compost with a Bokashi is very simple. Thanks to its design, discretion and compact format, it’s ideal as a kitchen composter.

Bokashi EM-1 activator for high fermentation, is made by Moutta Farm!
We carefully select our ingredients and use the official EM-1 from Professor Teruo Higa, the renowned inventor of Bokashi, to guarantee superior quality.
We use raw materials from our own region. Wheat bran from Gers (32) and molasses from Béarn (64).
WHY TWO BOKASHI?
The advantage of the two-bucket kit:
While fermentation occurs in the first composter (for 15 days), the second one is available to continue disposing of new waste (the following 15 days).
We recommend using two Bokashi bins. Once the first is full, it should be kept closed and resting for 2 weeks to allow the food waste to ferment. During this time, you can start filling the second bin, which is then ready for use!
Advantages
This indoor composter has several strengths:
- It features a tap so you can enjoy composting benefits without handling waste.
- The lid is fitted with a seal and three closures, making it completely airtight.
- Opening and closing it is very straightforward.
- A holder at the back of the Bokashi is provided to hang the presser on.
- Compact, stylish and importantly odour-free – everything is designed for this composter to blend with your kitchen.
Principle and use:
- Put your cooked and uncooked food scraps into the composter.
- Sprinkle two tablespoons of Bokashi activator.
- Compress the waste with the supplied presser to remove air from the organic matter.
- Always keep the lid closed – the less air, the better.
- Empty out any excess liquid using the tap at the base of the composter.
When the bucket is full, empty the contents into a small hole or trench in your garden (into a green waste bin, a worm composter or even to a recycling centre).
The waste will be fermented but not yet decomposed at this stage. It should enter the ground to physically break down into humus (soil). Alternatively, the organic matter can be added to your garden composter. For best results, keep this organic material covered with earth and other compostable materials.
