The Lumbricus Terrestrus is the largest worm we offer (4 g). As its name suggests, it's native to Canada and measures 15–20 cm long. It features a deep red hue and a flattened tail end.
Each order is carefully prepared: worms are sorted and packed on the day of shipping to ensure freshness, vitality, and excellent health on arrival. The worms are weighed, not counted.
Moutta Farm opts for generous, high-quality packaging. Every box contains sorted and weighed worms, to which we add substrate equal to twice the worms’ weight.
This bedding, developed by our farm, recreates an ideal biotope that promotes their well-being and longevity.
This attention to preparation and packaging guarantees you robust, lively worms ready to use—whether for fishing or feeding your animals.
Bait for fishing:
The Canadian worm is an outstanding bait for angling. Its impressive size and stamina attract many fish, such as barbel, bream, carp, chub, roach, perch, rudd, tench and trout.
It can be used whole or chopped, increasing its attractiveness. It's especially effective for eel and catfish, yet versatile for most types of freshwater fishing.
Your worms are packed in a box or micro-perforated bag, ensuring good ventilation while maintaining appropriate moisture.
Attention: For logistical reasons, all Canadian worm orders are shipped every Tuesday, with delivery to your door on Thursday or Friday.
Animal feed:
The Canadian worm also makes a great food source for select reptiles and amphibians. It's ideal for frogs like Litoria, lizards such as Tiliqua, and snakes of the Thamnophis genus.
Certain insectivorous or omnivorous birds—such as chickens, ducks, or pigeons—can also benefit from worms as a dietary supplement.
Its size and nutritional value make it a suitable food for many insectivorous or omnivorous species.
Storing your worms:
To keep them for several weeks, place them in the bottom of your fridge at a temperature between 3 and 7 °C and check the moisture regularly.
These worms are not suitable for worm composters, as they need a large quantity of heavy soil to thrive. To recreate an optimum environment, add cardboard or shredded paper to their bedding. This keeps them active, lively, and ready for use in fishing.
