EM-Silage® is an innovative microbiological additive designed to optimise fermentation of grass, maize, wholecrop, immature cereal or moist (crimped) grain silages.
It contains a carefully chosen mix of Effective Micro-organisms (EM®), including both homo- and hetero-fermentative lactic acid bacteria as well as live yeasts.
This unique combination ensures rapid acidification, improved clamp stability and greater energy utilisation of the forage.
Liquid product ready to use (dilute with water before application).
Benefits
- Rapid pH drop (stabilising between 3.8 and 4.2);
- Improved aerobic stability;
- Prevents heating at the feed-out face;
- Reduces dry matter losses;
- Inhibits unwanted yeasts and moulds;
- Increases energy value;
- Improves palatability and feed intake;
- Directly supports animal performance.
Mode of action
✔ Rapid acidification
Lactic acid bacteria quickly convert soluble sugars to lactic acid, leading to a fast drop in pH.
This early acidification limits undesirable fermentations and stabilises the silage.
✔ Improved aerobic stability
Hetero-fermentative bacteria also produce acetic acid, which inhibits the growth of wild yeasts that cause heating and clamp losses.
✔ Role of cultured yeast
The live yeast in EM-Silage® produces bioactive metabolites (enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants) which:
- improve digestibility;
- boost nutritional value;
- limit mould formation;
- help enhance palatability.
Why choose EM-Silage®?
EM-Silage® is the only silage inoculant combining specially selected lactic acid bacteria and live yeast, providing a comprehensive solution:
✔ Fast, controlled fermentation
✔ Long-lasting clamp stability
✔ More palatable, higher energy silage
✔ Improved animal performance
✔ Stronger return on investment
A highly effective microbiological solution to turn your silage into premium quality feed.
Usage advice
- Dilute EM-Silage® in water according to technical recommendations.
- Standard dose: 1–2 litres of EM-Silage® per tonne of green material.
- Apply evenly during the silage process (spray onto incoming forage).
- Ensure good consolidation and quick sealing of the clamp for maximum microbiological effect.
