The WORMbox 240 is the result of years of research and testing, especially on the silo system. Compost worms work in the first 30/40 cm: if the bin is too big, they won't go to the sides or bottom. With the silo system, it’s like they have several square meters of working area, exploring the top, sides, and bottom.
Another advantage is the excellent aeration: oxygen flow is perfectly maintained with 4 ventilation grilles, waste doesn’t stick and you don’t need to turn the compost!
The worms "push" the worm casting (fertiliser) to the sides, which then falls down to be easily collected from the front access door.
The silo sits on a juice collector, with a durable aluminium mesh filter. Worms can’t drop down and drown in the juice tank. Just use the tap to collect the compost tea.
